It was a good day yesterday for N.E. sports fans.
The Boston Bruins and the Philadelphia Flyers had a matinee game which ended up being a great game of good old fashion hockey at the Wachovia Center. The two teams had a bit of a rivalry going right from the start due to a couple of previous meeting between the two clubs. At the beginning of the season, a hit from Philly's Randy Jones may have knocked out Patrice Bergeron for the season due to a third grade concussion and Scottie Hartneel had checked Andrew Alberts awkwardly into the boards, who is also out of the lineup due to concussion symptons. Right from the start, the physicallity factor was very intense with Scottie Hartnell seeming to have a target on his back with strong checks from Zdeno Chara and Aaron Ward. Near the end of the 1st period, Milan Lucic was rammed into the boards by Flyers Captain, Jason Smith. Lucic went nose first into the dasher, bloody and helped off the ice, he returned a few shifts later with a fractured nose and 15 stiches, now that's a true hockey player. Needless to say, the rest of the game kept up it's physical play with the Bruins attaining a 3-1 lead, with the Flyers coming back to tie the game before the end of regulation. Sturm had a breakaway where Nittymaki played the puck, it went out to Ward where he then put on the slapper to win the game, 4-3 in OT. http://bruins.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=Recap&seas=20072008>ype=2&gnum=656, http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/hockey/bruins/view.bg?articleid=1066249,
Then we had the N.E. Patriots taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars to advance in the playoffs towards the Superbowl. It started out going back and forth with a tie score at halftime, 14-14. Then Jacksonville had a few turnovers which N.E. capitalized on to take the lead and end up winning with a 31 -20 victory. http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter?season=2007&week=POST19&game_id=29521
Next week, the Pats take on te San Diego Chargers.

New Club in St Pete, Push Ultra Lounge
Tom and I went to a new club that recently opened up in downtown St. Pete, Push Ultra Lounge, http://www.sptimes.com/2007/12/02/Neighborhoodtimes/Dine__dance_where_fir.shtml. If your on MySpace, their page is http://www.myspace.com/pushultralounge. The club is an upscale establishment that appeals to the 30's and up crowd. I found out about it from a friend of mine, Lisa, who also works at Gators, http://www.yagottagotogators.com/. It has the type of atmosphere that you'd find in the night clubs in Hyde Park in Tampa. Definetly one of the new hot spots, also ran into my friend, Matt the Bratt, his myspace page http://www.myspace.com/mtbflz, while I was there.

Penguins vs. Lightning, Penguins Win 4-1

Thursday night I went to the St. Pete Times Forum to see the Tampa Bay Lightning take on the Pittsburgh Penguins with Crystal. We had great seats for the hockey game, sitting just two rows behind the Penguins bench. We were right up close to see Sydney Crosby, Evengy Malkin, Jordan Stall, Petr Sykora, etc. There were very few penalties called during the game, but there was one nice high stick to Shane O'Brien where he received a gash across his face. Jordan Stall was one of the players of the games, scroring two goals and an assist. Ty Conklin also made some incredible saves. I'll be back there again Tues night to see the Lightning take on the Colorado Avavlanche.

Lily & Luci's 3rd B-Day Party

Sunday, Jan 6th, we celebrated Lily and Luci's 3rd birthday.
Their real b-day is Dec 31, but we had it a week later since Uncle Donald's twin brother, Dave and his wife Marilyn, were flying down from Mass. It was a great family day together with Sunday dinner, the Bucs were on, all happening the day of the party.
After dinner, we had their birthday cake and ice cream. They were a little shy at first after we lit the candles while we were all singing 'Happy Birrthday' to them.
Shortly afterwards it was time for their presents, they received clothes and toys. A couple of things were 'hits' at the party though.
The girls received their first pair of pink heels. They were so excited, they immediately opened them up and put them on and showed them off to everyone.
The other big present hit at the party was the 'Dora Mega House' playhouse, we ended up setting it up right away for them. They were all excited by it. Lily was jumping up and down inside of it,Luci was sticking her head in and out of it smiling at everyone, and pressing their faces up against the screen.

Buffalo Strange's last show at Gators

It was another fun night of dancing with friends at Gators, http://www.yagottagotogators.com/, on the 4th and 5th of Jan. to the music of Buffalo Strange. Listen to clips of some of their music on their website, http://www.buffalostrange.com/Music.html. What looks like could be the last show by them for quite some time too. Ran into a bunch of friends that I see at a lot of their shows those last two nights at Gators.

At work, Sunbelt Software, http://www.sunbelt-software.com/, where I am the N.E. Enterprise Account Manager, we are projecting a very prosperous year with some exciting new software releases.

New Years Eve 2007

New Years Eve was a lot of fun.I ended up ringing in the New Year at St. Pete Beach at Jimi Bs, http://www.beachcomberstpetebeach.com/jimmy-bs-beach-bar.asp.It started off with dinner at Shells, http://www.shellsseafood.com/, at the Travelodge, where I ran into my cousin, Dennis, and his wife, Lea, along with friends, Drew and Katja.
One of my friends bands, Buffalo Strange http://www.buffalostrange.com/, was playing there that night. It ended up being a great night of fun and dancing with friends, Cam, Jill, Monica, Crystal, and many more. There are only a few more shows left, the first weekend of January at Gators, before they take what we all hope is just a temporary break of playing together. Their bass player, Detroit Dan, is moving back to Detroit. Anyone who has seen them, knows how well they gell in generating good music together and keeping positive vibes at their shows.
